Shopping at Gap Isn't As Bad As Everyone Says It Is

gap.comAfter the mad dash to buy gifts for everyone on your list, there comes the mad dash to return gifts from everyone whose list you were on. It's a vicious cycle that leaves everyone miserable, frustrated, and worn out. A new report says that those who shopped online at Gap.com in 2011 might be the most peeved -- Gap.com was named the second worst e-commerce site when it comes to customer satisfaction. The first place prize in that ill-fated category went to Overstock.com. Just say no to O.co, I suppose.

I don't know what the heck is going on at Gap.com -- I consider it a go-to site for so many things and I had no idea that everyone hated it so much. What's happening to them that's not happening to me?

I find the site easy to use and I love that you can put items in your cart from Banana Republic, Piperlime, and Gap and then do only one check-out at the end. I like that they make it easy to enter coupon codes. I like that they sell many things in tall sizes online. And I like how it usually arrives within a few days.

This lady has no complaints when it comes to Gap.com. Then again, I've never had to call for customer service assistance -- that just seems like a death wish no matter what site you're using. We're all moving on to a strictly digital world. To me, talking to a person would just compound any issue and make my life more complicated. If I ever feel like I must talk to someone, I abort the order altogether. I no longer have the patience for human interaction. Sad, but true.

So maybe Gap.com shoppers are running into issues when they get a representative on the phone. Or maybe they're not thrilled with the return process -- again, not something I can corroborate.

Gap in general has had an abysmal year; I'm not sure if this latest batch of bad news is going to help that. On the other hand, maybe their poor customer service ranking will inspire them to be better. With moms all over the country placing clothes orders for the entire family from baby to Grandpa, they better get their stuff together. Lots rely on their cute, affordable, and timeless clothes.

Then again, if you're beyond ticked off by Gap.com, you can always head over to Amazon.com. They are the site with the highest customer satisfaction rating.

Do you shop on Gap.com? What's your experience been like?
