When I first came across this photo of Sarah Jessica Parker wearing socks with sandals -- I had to do a double take to make sure it was really her. Uhhhhhh, can someone please tell me what in the heck is going on here?
I mean, this is Sarah Jessica Parker, aka Carrie Bradshaw, the reigning queen of fabulous footwear -- and she's wearing a pair of hideous socks with open-toed shoes.
Excuse me -- I need an extra minute to process this one. (You're breaking my heart, Carrie. For real.)
Ok, let me see if I can try and figure out some sort of explanation for what possessed SJP to commit the biggest shoe no-no that ever existed.
Maybe her feet were cold. But if that were the case, why didn't she throw on a pair of Uggs -- or keep the socks, but opt for sneakers or something?
Ooo! I know why she went this route -- she hasn't had a pedicure in a while. She needed to get out of the house quickly and her toes are way too funky right now to be out in the open, so she figured she'd do us all a favor and wear socks to save our eyes. (Thanks, but no thanks.)
Or maybe she was heading to the airport after running errands that day? You know you have to take your shoes off at security, right? And who knows what sorts of germs and bacteria are lurking on airport floors -- maybe she was getting ready to take a trip? (Nah, that can't be it.)
Whatever the case is for her choosing not to adhere to standard shoe fashion rules, she is Sarah Jessica Parker -- and you know what that means.
Somebody somewhere is gonna see this picture and think wearing socks and sandals is some sort of new trend -- and then we'll run the risk of it catching on and creating an eyesore too big for any of us to escape from, no matter where we live. (And that'll just plain suck.)
On that note, let's hope she never tries to get away with something like this again. I'm not sure any of us can deal with seeing it more than once.
