Admit it. You were just as excited to see what a post-partum Kate Middleton looked like as you were to catch a glimpse of the baby Cambridge himself. And neither disappointed.
When the Duke and Duchess emerged from the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's hospital, holding their perfect boy, it was almost a little confusing. Did that woman really just give birth ... yesterday? Sure, she had her little baby belly like all new moms do, but wow. She was (well) dressed. Her hair was as bouncy and shiny as ever. And she even had her signature kohl-lined eye going. Most women can barely walk after giving birth! What is her secret for looking this great after just having pushed an almost 9-pound child out of her lady parts?
Here are 4 tips for looking as fresh and stylish as Kate Middleton after giving birth. Or, you know, ever.
1. The dress. For Kate's big debut, she chose a powder blue and white polka dot Jenny Packham dress. It's suspected that the dress was part homage to her baby boy (blue), part homage to the late Princess Diana, who also wore a polka dot dress when she debuted Will. Need I say, the key here is loose. This dress from Amazon isn't a replica of the Duchess' dress, but it's a similar idea with an empire waist, as well.
2. The shoes. The Duchess didn't opt for her signature nude LK Bennett pumps when she debuted her baby (pumps right after giving birth=crazyville), but she did wear a neutral pair of sling-back wedges with a low heel. I can't say I recommend heels of any kind immediately following birth, but if you didn't just have a kid and simply like Kate's look, this pair by Pied A Terre Chay is very similar for $140.
3. Undereye concealer. Lots of it. I think it's safe to say that, even with all her help, when Kate made her debut, she was probably exhausted. Two of the best undereye concealers I've ever used are Bobbi Brown's Tinted Eye Brightener ($30), and Yves St. Laurent's Touche Eclat ($40). Both will last you forever.
4. Hair. If you want smooth and shiny hair like Kate's, but don't have a ton of time (because, you know, you just gave birth), try a product that will last for days, like Frizz Ease's 3-Day Straight Spray. Seriously, this stuff is the bomb. Spray hair after getting out of the shower; dry it about 90%; then run through it with a flat iron. Boom. Straight, frizz-free hair for days.
Did you do anything to look pretty after giving birth?
