Well hold on to your socks, kids, because the color of the year for 2014 has been announced, and it is gorgeous. I know, I know -- who really cares about this "color of the year" thing? I've never been into it before, and I was really not into the "emerald green" that was 2013's. However! I love this "radiant orchid"! Bring it on! Paint everything -- including my nails -- radiant orchid!
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says that radiant orchid is an "enchanting harmony of colors" and "inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love, and health." Um, YES PLEASE! 2013 was a really difficult year for me, to put it mildly. I love the idea of embracing a gorgeous pinkish fuchsia color to start off 2014! And here are 6 ways to start right away (why wait for New Year's?!) ...
CoverGirl LipPerfection Lipcolor in Divine
This is already one of my favorite lipsticks; it's super rich and stays on FOREVER. This color will make a flattering pout! (About $7 at drugstores)
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Asphyxia
Look how luscious this is! Not only is it creamy and a brilliant color, it's waterproof. The formula stays soft so you can blend it, then it dries to a budge-proof finish. Perfection. ($19 at Sephora.com)
L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail Color in Royalty Reinvented
Have you tried the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail polishes? They are amazingly excellent, especially considering how affordable they are! ($4.99 at Target)
Urban Decay All Nighter Hanky Panky Set
My all-nighter days are pretty much behind me, but you never know! Life might suddenly present itself with the need for a full-size All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, plus two Hanky Panky signature lace thongs (in radiant orchid and vibrant lilac). RIGHT? Or a fun present for your single BFF. ($62 at UrbanDecay.com)
CARGO Eye Shadow Single in Pasadena
I love these juicy Cargo eye shadows, so vibrant and velvety, with great stuff like vitamin E to make your delicate eye-area skin happy. ($19.60 at BeautyBay.com)
This tawny pink blush will warm your cheeks right up with its creamy, luxe formula. ($8, Merle Norman Studios)
What do you think of the 2014 color of the year?
