Celebrities have to deal with all kinds of rumors about them, many of which are laughably untrue, like that one about Justin Bieber's bodyguards carrying him up the Great Wall of China. I mean, who would -- oh wait, sorry. That one had photographic evidence. Let's move on from Bieber because those are all probably true. Let's take Sarah Jessica Parker. SJP was recently a guest on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live when she gave us some insight into how a star feels when she sees hurtful, ridiculous gossip stories about herself -- like one that said that Sarah Jessica had had hand surgery.
Sarah told Andy about being in a car and flipping through a gossip tabloid (really, Sarah? You should avoid those) when she saw a story about her supposedly having hand surgery:
I flipped the page and there was an article about my hands and how ugly they are and how I should go have cosmetic surgery to fix them and I have been contemplating the surgery or I had the surgery. And then there was a really crude drawing of my hands as a witch's hands.
Witch's hands! C'mon, now, that's just rude.
There are some celebrities who kind of deserve all of the smack talked about them -- they invite it in with their behavior. Lindsay Lohan is a prime example. And the Kardashians, who have invited the cameras into their lives, can't expect the cameras to go away when it's convenient for them.
But SJP? What has she ever done to anyone? She lives a normal life with her husband and three kids in Manhattan. She's not out carousing, nip slipping, or getting arrested. So why say such a terrible thing about her?
She continued:
Literally, I was in the car like dizzy. I felt like I needed to be hospitalized. But it really got me to thinking. And here's what I thunk: I thought, 'Really? This is how low?' Like we are now going to attack, to suggest an appendage is now worthy of ... it was so ridiculous, so outrageous to me because, here's the thing, we'll wrap this up. I love my hands ... They're my mom's hands.
Sarah admits her hands are big and "super veiny" but that she wouldn't have it any other way. And she flashed her hands around so much during the show that I tend to believe her.
We all have some part of our body that maybe isn't perfect. Celebrities have them too. Pointing them out and then suggesting they be corrected with surgery or, even worse, that they HAVE been is pretty lame.

Still, I can't help but wonder (as Carrie Bradshaw would say) why anyone would get hand surgery. Is this really something people notice about other people? I personally never look at someone's hands, but perhaps other people do. Seems like a very bizarre thing to get surgery on, and possibly very risky. Wow, what if your hands got screwed up??
Anyway, glad SJP set the story straight about her lovely hands.
Do you like your hands?
