Not too long ago, I found myself stuck in a bit of what I like to call a "frump rut." And I don't mean frumpy in the sense that I stopped getting dressed or doing my hair and makeup in the morning -- I just mean I looked and felt sort of ... blah.
After being on a bit of a low-light craze for too long, my hair had gone from warm to mousy. And my skin looked sort of dull too -- to the point where I was starting to look 36, which is how old I am ... but still. Passing for someone in her early 30s is kind of a goal of mine. (And 29 would be even more kick ass, but let's not push it.)
And that's why I decided enough was enough -- so I did three very easy things to give myself a mini-makeover. Trust me ... you'll feel like a new woman after giving them a try yourself.
1. Schedule a color and/or cut -- First of all, I decided to kick the brunette thing to the curb and had my stylist transform me back into a blonde again. In addition to lightening up the color of my locks, the new shade seemed to brighten up my whole face as well. You'll be amazed at what a new style or color can do to completely change your overall vibe.
2. Go makeup shopping -- Second, I threw out my old makeup and bought all brand new stuff. I tend to get used to wearing the same old thing day in and day out for years -- so I invested in some new eye shadows, tinted moisturizer, and the miracle product I can't believe I ever lived without -- foundation primer. (It's so freakin' amazing, I can't say enough about it.)

3. Update your wardrobe -- Third, I let go of the notion that I had to wear all black all the damn time. I went out and bought a few pieces in bold colors -- and instead of picking up a standard little black dresses and tops, I chose bright hues, which make me feel stylish and pretty.
It may not have been any sort of grand makeover -- but doing these few little things definitely upped my confidence and pulled me out of my funk a bit, which is something every woman deserves.
Give it a try ... I guarantee it will work for you too!
