My skin hates winter even more than I do, and this year it's especially bad. My poor skin (body and face both) is so dry and overly sensitive, I barely have to LOOK at it and I'll break out in hives. So, I was a little hesitant to try this new Dr. Hauschka Rejuvinating Mask, but given the state of my dull, dry, angry skin and the fact that I ususally love their products, I figured I'd give it a whirl.
And I'm SO glad I did! Like, woah.
Generally, I'm not a big facial mask user. I just can never remember to use them regularly, and when I do use them, I tend to get cranky if they don't work wonders immediately. (I'm also bad at diets -- go figure!) I do have a few mask products that I use now and then, but whether they're working or not is really anyone's guess.
But something about this Dr. Hauschka Rejuvinating Mask made me want to try it -- probably the label! It promises that it "revitalizes pale, dull skin, visibly reduces pores and softens hardened skin tissue." Well, my sad, dry skin has been in desperate need of revitalizing and I am always peering and poking at my pores, wishing they would shrink. The label also says, "Nurturing plant oils and extracts infuse skin with moisture and antioxidants while calming sensitivities and redness."
What the heck, I figured, and smoothed some on. Like most Dr. Hauschka products, it smells wonderful and feels great, with a really nice consistency. I left it on for the recommended 20 minutes, and "gently compressed" it off with a tepid, wet cloth, per the directions. My skin did certainly seem clean, calm, and moisturized -- I was impressed! I read the instruction sheet again, and noticed that you can use it as a mask, but you can ALSO smooth some on under your daily moisturizer if you have problem areas, like acne scars or enlarged pores. So, I decided to try that, and WOW.
After using it every other day or so for about a week under my regular moisturizer, my skin looks SO MUCH BETTER! Like, for real. My pores seem smaller and much more clear, my skin is softer and smoother, and I honestly feel like I have an overall glow. (The glow of a beautifully pregnant woman, but without the morning sickness! Haha.)
And I'm not the only one to think so! After the second day or so of using it, my 10-year-old daughter randomly remarked that my skin looked really pretty. Say wha? (And this is very unusual, because she is at that age where she has started to stare at me close-up and then ask me about my wrinkles. Fun!)
A couple of days later, a mom friend of mine told me, totally out of the blue, how great I was looking. And this is someone who does not hesitate to tell me I "look tired."
So, I'm pretty sure I'm not just imagining it. This stuff is really working for me, and I would highly recommend it, especially after going online and reading some of the Amazon reviews.
The only drawback, for me, is the price: At the Dr. Hauschka site, it's $52.95 for a 1-oz, tube, and on Amazon right now I see it for $46.18. I agree with the package when it says it should last for 2-3 months. Mine will probably only last for a couple of months, but I'm using it a lot more than someone who is just doing it as a mask twice a week. If it cost half as much, I'd want to slather it on every day! It's not crazy expensive, though -- there are plenty more expensive beauty products out there! And if you can afford it, it's totally worth every penny. I'll be keeping my eye out for any good deals!
Do you use face masks? Do they work?
