Gah. Did you guys get a load of Beyonce performing at the Grammys with wet hair last night? What the heck was up with that? Doesn't she have a beauty team to give her a good prepping before heading out on stage?
Ok, ok, so the hair was probably part of her overall look -- which seemed to have a theme of "overstated sexy."
But it got me thinking -- I can't remember the last time I left the house with wet hair. If I had to guess, I probably have not done it since college or even high school.
Because even though there are plenty of days when I'm running short on time, I just can't bring myself to rock the "I got caught in a rainstorm" look. (PLEASE tell me it's not a new trend.)
Yes, I know there are times when you just can't manage to squeeze a blow dry in after showering. But in that case, you're probably better off grabbing a bottle of dry shampoo, spraying to your heart's content, and throwing your hair into a ponytail.
And if you're totally past the point of dry shampoo being able to help -- why not just throw on a hat? Pair it with some workout gear and everyone will assume you've just come from the gym, you healthy woman.
For whatever reason, unless you're at the beach -- wet hair really seems to scream, "I couldn't care less about the way I look and I certainly can't be bothered with the blow dryer."
And the older I get, the more I feel like I need to at least put an adequate amount of effort into getting ready to face the world -- which is why wet hair simply isn't an option.
On top of that, I'm not one of those people who has the luxury of being able to air dry her hair without it turning into a frizzy mess. I guess maybe there's the chance that I'd feel differently about the wet look if I could actually get away with it. It certainly would be healthier for my strands not to have to subject them to heat styling all the time -- but if you saw what I look like when I forgo the dryer, you'd get where I'm coming from completely.
(It ain't pretty, people.)
