Kate Winslet
Kate Winslet is known for her refusal to submit to the belief that all Hollywood actresses should weigh 90 pounds and wear size zero clothes.

I've always loved the fact that she has a curvy, healthy body -- she's beautiful and in shape, without making you feel like she hasn't eaten in three days.

But her new penchant for "optical illusion" dresses makes me wonder if Kate secretly wishes she could shave off a few more pounds.

The first time I saw her in one, I thought it was simply an interesting new outfit.

The second time, I'll be honest. It seemed a little weird. I mean, the optical illusion dress is a very memorable look. I think one in your closet is enough -- particularly if it's the Stella McCartney 'Miracle' version that Kate's wearing, which retails for about $3,900!

If you like this look, I have good news --

There's a knockoff still available that's far more budget-friendly.

Check it out after the jump!

ASOS
ASOS has this nearly identical dress available for a much more reasonable $80.87. Awesome, right?

In fairness, Kate's probably getting her 'Miracle' dresses free of charge from designer Stella McCartney, who has made several versions for her fall line. And she's not the only celebrity trying them out -- celebs ranging from Liv Tyler to Gloria Estefan have also been sporting the dress, and former 'Pussycat Doll' Nicole Scherzinger even wore one on the cover of UK InStyle.

According to the New York Post, Stella's version is made of a heavy stretch cotton, which effectively acts like a girdle in addition to giving its wearer cartoon-style curves.

Ultimately, I'm not a fan. It seems a bit gimmicky and makes its wearer stand out like ... Jessica Rabbit.

What do you think of the optical illusion dress? Would you wear one? And do you think Kate should make the look a one-time-only deal, or should she fill her closet with 'Miracle' dresses?
