Post by Liz Alterman.

robyn lawley supermodel picturesSelf-described plus-sized model Robyn Lawley drew the ire of women who would love to be as "plus-sized" as she is when she posted a bikini pic to her Facebook page that reveals she's anything but plump. And her fans are calling her out on it!

You know that woman, the one who constantly refers to herself as "fat," meanwhile she's a size 4 and you bounce quarters off her tight torso? You can't stand that lady! Well, what happens when that gal just happens to be an uber-gorgeous, 6-foot, 2-inch supermodel? The world reacts!

The 25-year-old used to be a straight-size model. She intended for the untouched, makeup-free photo to inspire women to embrace their curves, but in fact, it's just made them -- and me -- angry.

What kind of message does this send to young girls? A recent study estimates that a half million teens already struggle with eating disorders or disordered eating, according to the National Eating Disorders Association. Is the fashion industry is to blame? Perhaps a change to the very definition of "plus-size" is in order!

Preppy retailer J.Crew recently came under fire for introducing its new triple zero sizing, designed for women with 23-inch waists. The outfitter responded by denying it to be a case of "vanity sizing" as some suggested, but rather a way to boost sales in Asia. On a recent trip to the mall, I uncovered the store's new "Toothpick" jean. Really? Can someone please point me to the "I've Kind of Let Myself Go" jean, because, let's face it, that sounds a heck of a lot more comfortable!

Do you agree that just because a woman's bones are sticking out, that doesn't make her plus-size? By these standards, I'm positively obese! (Guess I should put down that afternoon snack!)

While the message behind the supermodel's photo may have been well-intentioned, perhaps she's been in the industry too long to realize her figure looks pretty trim to most women, especially me!

Does Robyn Lawley's "plus-sized" bikini pic send the wrong message?
