j crew manolo blahnikThe J.Crew presentation at New York Fashion Week is usually one of the best to attend not only because of the eye-catching bright colors and the celeb guests, but because it's really fun to see items on the runway that you could actually see yourself wearing. And this year, their presentation at The Studio in Lincoln Center was extra exciting because J.Crew debuted their collaboration with Manolo Blahnik. In other words: Shoes! Amazing shoes! Basically, J.Crew x Manolo Blahnik = magnificent.

Creative director Jenna Lyons has said for a few years now that she's wanted to collaborate with a fancy shoe designer on something extra special for J.Crew, and clearly her determination paid off. I dare say the result is this fall's hottest little piece of fabulous footwear. The only problem is ... they're not cheap. Sad. Face.

Shoes from J.Crew generally run around the $100 or $200 mark, but this line with Manolo is estimated to cost around $550 a pair. And that's pretty close to the cost of a pair of straight up Manolos. So ... what. Is J.Crew just selling Manolos now? While the collaboration has produced some stunning pumps that are exclusive to the preppy retailer, it's not like we're going to get any of them for cheap. CRAP.

But we can dream, sip our warm coffee, and peruse the new selection like we have a shot at buying them when they become available. Everything is right about them except for the price -- they look well-made, trendy yet timeless, and expensive, which is good, because if you're going to pay that much for a pair, you want it to look like you did. I know you feel me on that point.

Anyway, the shoes will be sold online only starting this fall, so start putting those pennies in the bank now and maybe by late August we'll have enough to buy a pair. Or maybe we'll have enough for an ice cream cone and a pair of flats from DSW. Blerg.

What do you think of the J.Crew x Manolo Blahnik shoes?
