carolina hererraAs New York Fashion Week comes to a close, buyers and stylists are probably making appointments with designers to arrange to see the runway looks up close and personal. And if any stylists were in the house that have any political women as clients, they're probably all clamouring to see Carolina Herrera's Fall 2012 collection in the showroom for one specific reason: this red dress.

Herrera showed her fashions Monday night at the Lincoln Center tents, and to me, it was obvious she had politics on the mind when she designed this little number. Can't you just see it at the inauguration ball next year?

It would look perfect on Michelle Obama, or Hillary Clinton, or really, any professional yet stylish woman over 40. Callista Gingrich could certainly pull it off -- same with Ann Romney or Karen Santorum. The red color, the flattering cut, and the downright ballgownyness of it make this dress perfect for any woman, no matter what party she's affiliated with.

Michelle would rock it with a chignon, Hillary would wear it with a black headband, and Callista would most certainly jazz it up with some blinding diamonds. There will be no wrong way to wear this. Well, as long as she doesn't pair it with a red, white, and blue American flag belt that lights up and plays "The Star Spangled Banner." That wouldn't be good.

So you heard it here first: Michelle's/Hillary's/Callista's/Ann's/Jen's dress is designed by Carolina Herrera and was first seen on the Fall 2012 runway.

Do you think this dress is perfect for election wear?
