American fashion designer Jeremy Scott is in a word: famaze.* His runway shows are a highlight of any fashion week -- he plays awesome music, the crowd is always star-studded, and in September he gave away Longchamp bags he designed covered in a prescription pill pattern -- and this season did not disappoint. Scott's Fall/Winter 2012 collection was inspired by none other than Bart Simpson. The 500th episode of The Simpsons will air Sunday, February 19, and clearly, Scott is a fan of the irreverent and biting yellow cartoon character.
From Bartman sweaters to one pieces with Bart's head all over them, Scott's show was ridiculously unwearable but ridiculously fun. Ay, carumba dudes.
Scott's no stranger to designing fantasy clothing -- he's dressed stars like Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Lady Gaga. His over the top designs have made him more than a little bit desirable in the pop music world where everyone is trying to outdo everyone else with the weirdest outfits ever.
Madonna's dancers during the Super Bowl wore Adidas gear designed by Scott, and Britney Spear's famed airline attendant outfit in her music video for "Toxic" was also one of his creations.
Besides Bart, Scott also took inspiration from Rainbow Brite. He sent models down the runway wearing her iconic unicorn and fashioned rainbow colored fur coats, pant suits, and dresses.
I bet it's only a matter of time before we see Kanye West in a sweater or two from Scott's Bart-inspired collection and something tells me that Gwen Stefani will be all 'bout it 'bout it, too. She just strikes me as someone who loves the '90s and therefore The Simpsons. And please, you Katy Perry's people have already claimed all the Rainbow Brite stuff for her. That's a no brianer.
Can't wait to see these looks on our favorite celebs!
