Clik here to view. How many little black dresses do you own? I think I have at least five or six hanging in my closet collecting dust. For whatever reason, moms tend to immediately resort to the old standby the minute we have some sort of special occasion to get all dolled up for. Why are we so afraid of trying out other colors?
She may be one of the biggest movie stars in the world, but Angelina Jolie often tends to fall into the little black dress trap too. Honestly, how many times have you seen her wear anything other than monotone colors like black and gray? She definitely digs understated hues.
That said, Angie must have had a recent change of heart as far as color goes, because she showed up to the premiere of In the Land of Blood and Honey looking absolutely stunning in this silvery-white gown.
Doesn't she almost seem to glow in this dress? The shade goes perfectly with her skin tone and hair and seems to make her gorgeous facial features "pop."
Wearing a light shade like this can seem kind of risky next to pale skin in the winter months, which is probably one of the reasons most of us automatically gravitate toward black. But Angelina doesn't have the slightest hint of a tan, and she totally pulled this look off without appearing the least bit pasty. Besides, staying out of the sun and being a bit on the pale side are actually kind of chic these days, right?
As moms, we have so few events in our lives where we are actually given the chance to get all gussied up in a fancy dress and enjoy a night out on the town. That's why when we do finally wind up with a formal event on our calendar, we should be inspired to hang up our little black dresses and step out of our fashion comfort zone a bit. If Angelina can do it, so can we!
Do you tend to prefer black over other shades when dressing up?
