Thirty-year-old designer Alexander Wang makes fantastic clothes. Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and Lorde are huge fans. When he recently collaborated with H&M for a more affordable line, items sold out fast. He's hot. He likes to do the unexpected. And that's exactly what Wang did with his new denim line. The jeans are jeans, but the ads for them are some of the most provocative I've seen since American Apparel.

Wang. Alexander Wang. The euphemism is there. And it cannot be denied. Some men will love these ads. Some women will love these ads. But there are certainly those who are going to hate them.

That's model Anna Ewers wearing (or mostly not exactly wearing) Wang's denim. On his racy ads, Wang said:
Once you see it, you can't stop thinking about it.
It's not provocative just in terms of sexy, but provocative to provoke conversation ... I'm not dictating what that message is exactly. The interesting part is to see how people interpret it, and what they have to say about it. Of course, there are going to be people who disagree with it.
I feel conflicted in saying that these ads don't faze me. Sexy images are all over the place. Go to any Victoria's Secret and there are larger than life-sized posters of models in lingerie. Calvin Klein always delivers with sexy ads of both men and women. American Apparel has their own brand of provocation. But maybe it's Wang's suggestion of masturbation that has some upset.
Wang.

I think I just turned into a 16-year-old boy.
Wang knows what he's doing. All press is good press, even the bad press. For every person who hates it, another loves it or learns about it for the first time. And at prices that start at $225 for a pair of jeans, these jeans aren't selling themselves.
What do you think of the ads? Too racy?
