gwyneth paltrow 2012 oscarsThe boring Oscars came and went last night, and while, really, they had no impact on our lives, it was fun to look at what the celebs were wearing. Obvs. This year, the best dressed of the evening (to me) did not come in the form of a winner or a nominee, but instead in the form of that tall drink of water we all love to hate: Gwyneth Paltrow. Cape and all.

Gwyneth, a die-hard lover of fashion, thinks outside the box at these events. She always looks polished (and usually is clad in a floor-length gown), but there's always something different about what she's wearing. It's always fun and refreshing to watch her. She puts a little extra thought into what she wears. She doesn't just go for what's "on trend." Her choices aren't all winners, but at least you know you're going to get something interesting out of her. Unlike, say, the perennially all-black-clad Angelina Jolie.

But there were some other big fashion winners last night. Let's honor them. Actors don't get enough honoring.

Michelle Williams. To be honest, I could have done without the pink clutch, but her coral-colored Louis Vuitton dress was stunning. The color, the tiers, and the train looked perfect with her pixie hair. And I love that she opted to go earringless.

Octavia Spencer. Spencer didn't just win Best Supporting Actress, she won Most Flattering Dress. Her white Tadashi Shoji gown hugged her in all the right places, accentuating her curves. Hands down, best she's ever looked.

Jessica Chastain. In a weird way, her Alexander McQueen gown sort of reminded me of Elizabeth Hurley's black and gold safety pin Versace dress -- a much less scandalous version. The colors and pattern were different than everything else we were seeing on the red carpet. Gorg.

Stacy Keibler. I haven't really be a fan of Keibler's looks in the past. They're a bit too, I dunno, California girl for me, but last night -- wow. The color of her Marchesa dress was phenomenal. And she was able to maintain a bit of that California casual with her tan skin and blonde hair. A+ all around.

Who did you think was best dressed last night?
