Traditionally, the first year anniversary gift is paper, but if you're Prince William and Duchess Catherine, you celebrate your first year of marriage with wax. Madame Tussauds in London has re-created the dashing couple in such explicit detail that it's borderline creepy. And they didn't make just one -- there will be four wax Kate Middletons in total -- one of her in her iconic blue Issa wrap dress made famous during her engagement announcement, one of her in the black lace Alice Temperley gown she wore to the War Horse premiere, and one of her in a lilac McQueen gown. The last one will be unveiled in New York today, so we'll get to gawk at the Duchess in no time. The other three will be on display around the world.
But the question remains -- do you like what the American-version of wax Kate is wearing? Shouldn't they have put that to a poll before they shipped her over here? I just feel like her lilac dress wasn't her best fashion moment.
Personally, I love the Duchess in Erdem. She wears the Canadian brand effortlessly and brings a sexy style to the otherwise conservative frocks. This navy blue number? To die for.
While I love Kate all done up, I do like her in a nice pair of jeans and a blazer. She wears J. Brand skinny jeans and makes them look oh so cool and oh so chic.
And who could forget Kate in her McQueen reception dress? So timeless and elegant, I'd love to see that look in person, even if it's on a body made of plastic and wax.
The geometric bandage sheath that the Duchess wore when she met the Obamas was also memorable. The sand-colored number looked great against her post-honeymoon tanned skin.
But beggars can't be choosers. I suppose we should feel lucky that we got a wax Kate all to ourselves. Can't wait to see her. It. Her? It? Oof.
What would you like to see wax Kate wear?
