Michelle Obama Christmas Emerald Green DressWhen Christmas time rolls around, I immediately think red everything. Perfect dress for Christmas Eve? Red. Skirt for our company holiday party? Also red. Stockings hung by the chimney with care? Red, red, and a patterned red.

Michelle Obama, however, thinks green. The First Lady wore this emerald green Cushnie et Ochs number for Sunday night's taping of Christmas in Washington and looked beyond stunning. Do you see how fun and chic the neckline is on that dress? I die.

Michelle's gown is a custom-made take on other looks from the brand's spring 2012 collection, which unfortunately means we normal folk are out of luck if we want to snag the same one. However, that doesn't mean that fashionistas like you and me can't take a little inspiration from Mrs. Obama and mix things up with an similar-colored dress of our own.

Take a look at these 5 great emerald green dresses to brighten up your holiday:

City Triangles Emerald Green Dress

This City Triangles Seamed Dress ($50.70, Kohls.com) has a simple design and clean lines that will flatter tons of different body types.

 J.C. Penney Green Dress

I adore the detailing on this S.L. Fashions Party Dress ($74.99, JCPenney, com). The way that the flower ruched detail goes down the right shoulder adds a hint of pizazz to this otherwise standard dress.

Forever 21 Emerald Green Dress

Alone, I wouldn't exactly say that this Silky Fitted Dress ($14.50, Forever21.com) is something special. However, I could totally envision accessorizing this little number for a savvy shopper's holiday look on the cheap. Throw on a blazer, a pair of opaque black tights, a chunky necklace, and you're in business!

Zara Emerald Green Dresses

Looking for something with a little more length? These two dresses from Zara (left, $99.90, right, $169) are stunning. Wear one of these to your next holiday bash, and I have no doubt you'll be the center of attention. Love the look but think the length is a tad over-the-top? Dress down a long dress by pairing it with minimal jewelry and a flat instead of a heel.

Are you into emerald green?
