Jennifer Aniston Was Forced to Cut Her Hair Into a Bob

Jennifer Aniston
I'd be willing to bet my shih tzu that there isn't a woman out there who hasn't admired Jennifer Aniston's hair at some point in her life. Whether you chopped your hair into a "Rachel" during the 90s, or simply have coveted her long, healthy "sun-kissed" locks  from afar, there's no denying the woman is a hair icon.

So, when she stepped out a few months ago with a freshly-shorn -- sort of average -- 'do, I admit, I was a bit surprised. Sure, she still looked every bit the cute, beachy, Malibu girl that she is, but her tresses were no longer, dare I say, enviable. Yes, they were healthy and nice, but her cut was one that was totally doable. Nothin' fancy.

Did she go short for new boyfriend, Justin Theroux? Was she tired of Real Housewives biting off of her style? Or did she just want to mix it up?

Turns out, none of the above. The actress just revealed why she went for the bob -- and the reason will truly, truly shock you.

Aniston told the January issue of InStyle: "The real reason I cut my hair? My real hair was getting thinned out again from all the extensions. It was starting to look fake."

Wait ... bwah? Jennifer Aniston's gorgeous, enviable long locks weren't all hers? I mean, I know that basically every single actress, singer, and reality TV star has "help" in the follicle department, but Jen, too? Call me naive, but I honestly thought her tresses were all hers. During the era of the Rachel, her hair was so thick and healthy-looking -- I always figured, "Why wouldn't her hair be able to grow to unheard of lengths for a 42-year-old?" and "I guess she's just one of those women who can dye and dye their hair without it getting damaged."

Alas, I am wrong. Bamboozled by Hollywood trickery once again. But, I must admit, I really admire Jen's honesty. Like I said, pretty much the entire female population of Hollywood wears phony hair, but they won't dare admit it. Jen's admission shows that she's comfortable letting the public know that she, too, is actually human.

Also, I have a suggestion for her. Clip-ins.

Clip-in hair extensions are the perfect way to add some length and volume to your hair without sacrificing the integrity of it. They're not sewn or glued into your hair, so they're not pulling down on it, damaging it in the process. You can pretty much get clip-ins anywhere these days (the mall, Sally's Beauty Supply, Ricky's) -- hell, Jessica Simpson even has a line. And, typically, you can treat it like regular hair, curling it, straightening it, etc. (as long as it's not synthetic).

And the best part is, you won't have to chop your hair after you use them.

Have you ever tried clip-in extensions?
