Eczema flare-ups mean you can't do a lot of things. Among them: you should avoid acidic foods, sweating, and itching. Especially the itching.
But while there might be plenty of restrictions, there are also plenty of things that you should do. Case in point: You CAN be stylish even when you are going through an uncomfortable flare-up. Here's how.
You should wear cotton clothing, light colors, and plenty of loose materials.
Doctors highly recommend cotton clothing because it is soft and breathable and doesn't cling tightly to skin. Wool, an eczema sufferer's enemy, has coarse fibers that irritate the skin. Nylon and polyester have tight threads that do not allow the skin to breathe. And synthetic fibers, especially when worn for longer periods of time, can prevent flare-ups from healing.
Cotton, on the other hand, is one of the most breathable and simple materials. 100% pure cotton clothing generally has smaller threads and holes, which means that the clothing has an airy feel, and is not tight enough to rub against the skin.
But even when the flare-ups happen, know that you don't have to sacrifice fashion for comfort. In fact, you can easily have both. Below, we've scrounged up five styles that you can bust you during your eczema flare-up. They're light, simple, and completely perfect for those irritating moments.
