Desiree Hartsock's Engagement Ring Is Most Beautiful in 'Bachelorette' History (PHOTO)

Post by Nicole Fabian-Weber

desiree hartsock engagement ring
Not sure if you happened to get a good hard look at the engagement ring Chris Siegfried presented Desiree Hartsock with during The Bachelorette finale, but let me just tell you, it's gorgeous. The ring, which was designed by the only person who designs rings in Hollywood, apparently, Neil Lane, features a 4-carat cushion cut diamond with more than 200 little diamonds on the platinum and rose gold band.

Rose gold on an engagement ring, or any ring for that matter? Hell to the yeah.

Every engagement ring is beautiful in its own right, because, at the risk of sounding cheesy, it's a symbol of two people's love. But there's something about a rose gold ring that's just so damn pretty. It's not as in-your-face as an all-platinum and diamond ring (although Des' ring is pretty in-your-face), and it's different. I feel like every piece of jewelry I've admired lately has been rose gold. I'm yet to buy a piece for myself, as I'd rather eat and have a roof over my head, but it really is quite beautiful.

So glad the producers of The Bachelorette Chris went with a ring that's a little more unique this season. It looks stunning on Desiree's finger -- where hopefully it will stay.

What do you think of Desiree's engagement ring?

Beyonce Shocks Us All by Cutting Off Her Hair (PHOTO)

Post by Kiri Blakeley

BeyonceHoly crap, Beyoncecut off her hair!!!! Her long, gorgeous, glossy, curly or straight, always looks like it's blowing in the wind HAIR!!! Maybe it's cause she got her hair caught in a fan recently, 'memba that? I have long hair and it's gotten caught in some weird places too, but girlfriend, I ain't cuttin' it all off!!! You be crazy cuttin' off that delectable HAIR!!! THAT HAIR!!! Beyonce's hair, y'all!!! OMG, will she still have a career?? Will Jay-Z leave her??? Will her baby not recognize her??? How does Beyonce cut off her hair?!!!

Okay. I'm calm. I'm calming down now.

Caaaaalmmmmm.

Beyonce posted a photo of herself on Instagram looking more like Jean Seberg with a pixie cut. Other celebs who went pixie include Emma Watson, Halle Berry, and Miley Cyrus. Gwyneth Paltrow had one ages ago after she and Brad Pitt broke up.

Anyway, um, now that I look a little more closely, I can see that, um ... She looks good! She looks hot. Let's face it, Beyonce would look hot with no hair. With green hair. With vomit hair.

Speaking of vomit, she's a new mom. Think of the freedom you get without all that hair. No baby grabbing on to it like she's grabbing on to the side of a sheer cliff drop and will die if she doesn't cling to that hair for her very life ...

No spit-up in hair. No vomit in hair. No poop in hair. (It happens.)

No hair getting caught in fans!!!

I've always thought about cutting my hair, which has literally been no shorter than down to my ears since the moment I was born. But I don't have the guts. You've got to be VERY confident to do it. You've got to have a certain kind of face too. Like a Beyonce face. Which I don't have. Only Beyonce does.

But ... is she still Beyonce? Beyonce without hair is kinda like, I dunno, Ian Somerhalder without the possibility of being cast as Christian Grey. Just very different and weird and she kinda loses some of her magic.

Just a bit.

But, let's face it, all that hair might have been a weave or wig anyway, and she's gonna just put on another weave or wig in like three days.

What do you think of Beyonce's haircut?

Stacy Keibler Looks Like a Completely Different Person After Breakup With George Clooney (PHOTO)

Stacy KeiblerHere's one girl who's not sitting at home post-breakup, clutching the the remote and a pint of Ben and Jerry's! George Clooney's latest ex Stacy Keibler looks absolutely stunning on the cover of Line Magazine's fall issue -- and hardly recognizable!

The glamazon professional wrestler turned actress reportedly broke things off with cool cat Clooney because the perennial bachelor wanted to stay just that: A perennial bachelor. Well, I'm pretty sure that Keibler isn't going to have a hard time finding new love, with a face like that. And can we just talk about this gorgeous beauty look for a minute?

Talking to People Magazine, Keibler said, "This was my absolute favorite shoot to date. It was so fun to try different and more dramatic looks. It felt almost theatrical."

This is a pretty big departure from Keibler's usual modern golden girl style. Whether walking the Oscars red carpet in glittering gold or being snapped in casual clothes while on vacation with Clooney,  yacht, Keibler typically has a clean, fresh look that works well with her statuesque features (and bangin' body!).

Aveda sweet plumHowever, I'm really loving the edgy, kind of goth-bohemian vibe Keibler has going on in the Line shoot, with her flawless, pale skin, glam smoky eyes, and that ultra sexy deep plum lipstick. I tend to either go for stronger eyes OR stronger lips, but this looks just beautiful. And even though it's for for a fashion editorial, not a day at the office, I'd totally steal this look for a special night out.

The key to working this look is a very simple, plain but flawless as possible face: Maybe a little foundation and powder, but not a lot, and just a but of blush to bring out your cheekbones. Next: Your smoky eye in black, dark gray or brown -- or even a slightly metallic smoky eye. And finally, a deep, rich plum lipstick, like Aveda limited edition "Nourish-mint" smoothing lip color in "sweet plum." ($16 at Aveda.com)

What do you think of Stacy Keibler's transformation?

Kate Upton's First 'Sports Illustrated' Cover Made Her Completely Miserable

Post by Maressa Brown

kate upton elle magazineAs the cover model for the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Kate Upton took the world by storm. It seemed like she had the world at her fingertips -- men falling all over her, women envying her insanely sexy curves. But the supermodel reveals to ELLE for their September issue that the experience actually left her feeling objectified and ridiculed.

"Aftermy first Sports Illustrated cover, I felt terrible about myself for a solid month. Every single guy I met was either married or about to be married, and I felt like I was their bachelor present or something," she reveals. Ugh! Sadly, I can totally see that happening. And it's really sad that she was made to feel that way -- especially when the rest of the world was assuming she was enjoying so much success. Thankfully, Kate's not holding back from calling out seriously bad behavior.

Kate continues:

I'm not a toy, I'm a human. I'm not here to be used. I am a grown woman, and you need to figure your sh-t out.

Whoa, I wonder who exactly she feels needs to "figure [their] sh-t out." But it could be a general statement aimed at anyone who insists on objectifying her. After all, that has seemed to be a perpetual issue she's encountered. She goes on to admit that even in professional settings, she's treated like a stereotypical "dumb blonde." She elaborates:

People deal with models like they are children. They think they can pull one over on you. It's actually funny. I'm always like, 'I'm about to pull something on you, and you're so focused on thinking I'm dumb you're not even going to know.'

The thing is ... they should know. In her interviews, Kate comes off like an astute, business-savvy young woman, interested in all aspects of her career and aware of her power. It's beyond annoying that anyone would assume she's immature, brainless, or disempowered based on the fact that she's, uh, gorgeous! But, welcome to the world we unfortunately still live in!

More from The Stir: Kate Upton Shows 'Vogue' She's More Than America's Sexiest Model

Sixty years ago, it happened to Marilyn, and now it's happening to Kate. The more things change, the more they stay the same. What a bummer. Still, bravo to hear for talking about this, being bold and unafraid to slam the stereotypes, and making it known that she's the one getting the last laugh.

Are you surprised by Kate's quotes? What do you think we can do to change these sexist stereotypes?

Eyelash Curlers Aren’t All They’re Cracked Up to Be So Don’t Waste Your Money

Post by April Daniels Hussar

eyelash curlerEyelash curlers always seemed so glamorous to me as a kid; something only a truly grown up movie star would use. (I watched a lot of American Movie Classics as a child!) But I've never really gotten into them as an adult. I know some people swear by them, and I always see makeup artists using them backstage at fashion shows, so I figured I'd give a few a whirl and see if this is what my lashes have been missing all this time.

In short?

Well, they're kind of fun, and they MIGHT make a SLIGHT difference, but on my lashes at least, theyr'e really not worth the money or effort. I was kind of disappointed!

For my experiment, I tried three different versions:

MAKE eyelash curler from the UK (I can't even find a link!), a Sephora collection eyelash curler ($17 at Sephora), and Sally Hansen Sexy Curls ($3.70 at Drugstore.com).

So ... here's what my eyes look like naked:

And here's what they look like with mascara -- only one of them has been curled. Can you tell which one? I can't!

(It's the eye on your left.)

Here's a shot with both lashes curled plus mascara:

 eyelashes

And here's both NOT curled, with mascara:

eyelashes

I dunno ... the one on the right looks identical to me in the top and bottom photos. The one on the left is definitely a little clumpy in the bottom photo, so maybe the eyelash curler helped a little bit?

I think what is making the most difference is the actual MASCARA. In all these shots, I used my trusty Covergirl Lash Blast Voluminizing mascara in "very black". ($6.23 at Drugstore.com)

My favorite eyelash curler was the Sephora brand one -- it just seemed easiest to use.

Covergirl

Did it make a difference? I could barely tell!

What do you think - am I doing something wrong or not seeing the difference? Or are eyelash curlers a waste of moola?

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Attend Premiere Together but What Is She Wearing? (PHOTO)

Post by Nicole Fabian-Weber

miley cyrusMiley Cyrus accompanied her fiance/ex-boyfriend/who knows what, Liam Hemsworth, to the Paronoia premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday. And despite cozying up together for photos, the couple reportedly acted "like strangers" toward one another. Cool story.

Now, while everyone's busy trying to dissect their body language and figure out what it all means!, I'm focusing on something else from the red carpet event: Miley's leather dress. I like it. Yet at the same time ... I don't.

Without question, Miley Cyrus is one of the few people who could get away with wearing a knee-length leather patchwork dress -- and wear it well. But there was something that was bugging me about the "We Can't Stop" singer's look, and I just couldn't put my finger on it. Until I did. The white accessories. The sky-high white pumps, and the white chain strap bag. Why, Miley, why? Why would you choose white to accompany your red and black leather dress?

If I were Miley's stylist, I would have gone with black, strappy pumps and a black clutch bag. I know it seems like the obvious go-to, but the dress speaks for itself. It doesn't need fancy adornments to complement it. It's enough on its own. It's a leather patchwork dress for god's sake.

The good news for Miley is I seriously doubt anyone was focusing on what was on her feet and what was in her hands at the event. They just want to know what's up with her and Liam. And now that I've gotten all this off my chest, I do, too. Miley?

What do you think of Miley and Liam's red carpet appearance?

Kim and Kourtney Kardashian Bikini Pic Shows How Cute Sister Style Should Look (PHOTO)

Post by Maressa Brown

kourtney kim kardashianLove 'em or loathe 'em, reality show sisters -- and now both moms! -- Kim and Kourtney Kardashian are trendsetters and stylemakers. So it's not uncommon to find them flaunting their latest looks everywhere from the covers of the celeb weeklies to their Instagram accounts. Even their "Throwback Thursday" pics taken a while back are sure to garner attention. Take, for instance, the cute shot Kourtney posted the other day of the pair on the beach, wearing coordinating, brightly-huedbikinis. Yeah, they look pretty awesome.

Not much explanation for why she posted this one in particular, but maybe she's just showing some sisterly love and support?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was meant as a reassurance to Kim that she'll get her pre-baby body back ... or maybe a reassurance to them both, if rumors that Kourtney's expecting her third are true?! Regardless, what's not to love about the look?

There's something beyond cringe-worthy about matching your sister after, I dunno, you hit junior high age. But coordinating is a whole different story. I loved that at my bridal shower, my red dress coordinated with my sister-turned-Maid of Honor's pumps. Just sort of helped us present a "united front" in a cute, fun way, you know?

And the Kardashian sisters are pros at coordinating in a totally non-cringe-worthy way. (Have you seen their Kardashian Kollection ads? Even the Keeping Up with the Kardashian promos?!) They're probably so used to doing it that they do it on their days off and at the beach. Nah, these bikinis aren't as coordinated as it gets, but they're similar enough ... Goes to show that even when they're not dressing alike on purpose, the K sisters are in sync. Momager Kris would be proud!

Do you think it's cute to coordinate styles with your sibling or friend?

Wedge Sneakers Are So Hideous I Refuse to Ever Try Them

Post by April Daniels Hussar

You guys, I don't know if this makes me just super un-trendy and lame or what, but I HATE the wedge sneaker trend! They've been around for a little while and show no signs of disappearing any time soon, alas. I just do not get them AT ALL.

Can you even guess how much the ones shown here cost? I bet you can't. Go ahead, guess! ...

Well, these Giuseppe Zanotti Studded Suede Wedge Sneakers can be yours for a mere $895 at BergdorfGoodman.com! What a bargain, right?!

There are many celebrities and fashion editors who would disagree with me on this anti-wedge sneaker stance. In fact, I probably have a few friends who own a pair or two (sorry, gals! I love you!). But why, I say. WHY? What is the point? The WHOLE REASON for wearing sneakers is that they're supposed to be comfortable and easy to, you know, run around in. Right? If you're going to wear a heel, then why wouldn't you wear a boot? Or a sexy wedge heel?

EXPLAIN!

I will say that some wedge sneakers are somewhat more appealing to me than others, like, for example, the Puma "Sky Wedge" sneakers, on sale for $59.99 at Piperlime.com:

Puma wedge

I mean, these look somewhat comfortable, if a 3-inch wedge on top of a 3/4-inch platform could ever be considered comfortable. But I still think I'd feel absurd wearing them.

Maybe my problem is that I'm already almost 5'10", so I don't really need anything that gives me extra height. I love high heels because I think they're sexy and they make my legs look good (something wedge sneakers are not and would not do!), but not because they make me taller.

Or maybe the problem is that wedge sneakers are just generally ugly and ridiculous!

What do you think? Am I just a lame-o who should give wedge sneakers a try? Or do you agree they should just vanish, and pronto!?

5 Age-Defying Women Who Prove We Should All Shun the Sun

Post by Cynthia Dermody

Yasmin Le Bon Ah, aging. It's the great equalizer. Everyone gets to do it at some point, but if you bask in the sun, you'll get to do it a lot sooner than those who don't! Actress Kristen Scott Thomas recently said that women become invisible once they reach middle-age, which, okay, I can sort of see the point. Some women try a little too hard (plastics) to fight aging, but more times than not, premature aging is a direct result of frying in the sun in your younger years.

It is totally possible to be teetering on either side of 50 and be age-defyingly gorgeous, however. Take these 5 celebs below. Notice their un-tanned skin tones? Some 80-90 percent of the aging signs on our faces are due to photo-aging, aka: the sun. We bet these natural beauties' biggest anti-aging secret is not expensive treatments or creams, but simply shunning damaging ultra-violet rays. Everyone can afford that! Check these 5 incredibly unlined ladies out, and make them YOUR aging role models:

Chelsea HouskaIf I had to take a guess, I'd say Chelsea Houska is by far the most beloved Teen Mom. There's just something about her that we can't get enough of. She's a great mother, she's likeable ... but most of all, she's super hot.

Yeah, Teen Mom fans just LOVE to gush over how good-looking this chick is. And needless to say, when Chelsea posted her most recent photo on Instagram, it received over 50,000 positive responses.

Check out the photo below:

Chelsea Houska

See? Told you she was hot! Everything from her jean jacket to her wavy locks screams WOW. I'm starting to become slightly obsessed with her style. But first thing's first: weight loss. What in the WORLD did she do? This girl is a mother, remember? She looks absolutely amazing -- totally flawless! Great job, Chels!

Hell, even her iPhone case is getting positive comments. It's starting to make me a little jealous. I mean, this girl is incapable of taking a bad photo -- and trust me, just like the rest of the Teen Moms, she takes a LOT.

What do you think of Chelsea's style? Are you a fan?

Crocs Going Out of Business Could Be Amazing News for Women Everywhere

$

Post by Mary Fischer

CrocsUgh. Crocs. If you own a pair or two and simply can't live without them, then I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The Crocs company has reported a 43 percent drop in profits -- which can only mean one thing, right?

Duh. People are finally catching on and realizing that no matter how comfortable these shoes are, they simply aren't stylish and were never stylish to begin with -- even though plenty of people couldn't resist sporting them no matter how awkward they looked.

The first time I laid eyes on a pair of Crocs was about 10 years ago. I guess I should probably add that an 80-year-old woman was wearing them (a bright yellow pair, to be exact) if that tells you anything. At first I assumed they were gardening shoes, but then I found out this lady wasn't a gardener, so I realized they were just shoes. Really weird shoes.

And while I'm proud to say I never hopped on the clog bandwagon and gave into the "trend" even though everyone who was anyone was wearing Crocs -- I did finally break down and buy a pair of them when they came out with their wedge-style sandal a few years back.

And you know what? I only wore them a couple of times before I realized they really weren't all that cute -- and they were nearly impossible to walk in and kept falling off my feet. That ended my brief stint with Croc wearing, and I've never given them another shot -- even with some of their newer, more "fashionable" women's styles.

There's really no polite way to put this: Crocs are ugly. Actually, scratch that. They're hideous. And the only people on the planet who can actually pull them off and look cool doing it are kids. If you're over the age of about 10, however, they go straight from tiny and adorable to big and clunky -- something most women never want their shoes to be.

And now with such a huge decrease in sales, you gotta wonder if there's a decent chance of Crocs disappearing from people's feet altogether should they go out of business, something I'm sure will come with plenty of mixed reactions. I mean, on the one hand, I'll feel a little bad if they go out of biz simply because my son enjoys wearing his Crocs in the summer months. But on the flip side of the coin, the thought of never having to see grown women wearing shoes that make their feet look 10 sizes bigger than they actually are doesn't sound half bad.

Hmm. Yeah, I think I'm perfectly ok with Crocs going bye-bye for good. And honestly, it probably should've happened a long time ago.

Do you wear Crocs?

Kailyn Lowry Has the Right Idea About Summer Hair -- Go Simple and Sexy!

Post by Emily Abbate

kailyn lowryAs much as it pains me to say this, summer is on the outs. Sadly, long days at the beach and hours of basking in the sunshine enjoying the occasional ice cream cone will soon be a thing of the past (until next year, of course). The good news? That doesn't mean a classic summer hairstyle has to go, too. Beach waves. Seriously, who doesn't love that effortless, tousled look of loose waves?

Great for summer and all year round -- one person in particular has this look down perfectly: Teen Mom star Kailyn Lowry. Seriously, is she some sort of hair goddess or something? First she perfects the sock bun, now this?

Want to get Kailyn's waves in a flash? Then check out 5 tips to sexy beach waves, here:

1. The cut helps: When it comes to the best beach wave style, often long hair is the ultimate desire. Long hair with long layers, to be exact. The long layers are going to help create different lengths. Plus, getting rid of extra weight will help.

Beach_Waves_hair_Tips2. Test out a salt spray. The natural secret to awesome beach waves is salt water. Lucky for all of us, there are a bazillion companies that sell salt sprays to help you achieve the same look without jumping in the ocean. My favorite? Bumble and Bumble's Surf Spray ($15, sephora.com). If you're willing to try making your own at home, you can attempt this easy DIY salt spray tutorial from Free People.

3. Braid a little: Put a little salt spray into your hair, then dry with a diffuser for five minutes. Your strands should still be damp. Then, give yourself two pigtail braids, down each half of your head. Sleep with the braids in, take 'em out in the morning, and bam! Large waves, perfection!

4. Pick up a curling iron: Wrapping your hair around the barrel of a curling iron without utilizing the clamp is an easy way to achieve loose, sexy waves. Just be careful! Obviously, the device is very hot!

5. Hold still: Just like with any style, you want to make sure you give your look an extra zap of hairspray to keep everything in place. Remember: The beach waves should look sexy, not crispy. Opt for a gel-based styling spray that will allow your hair movement.

Are you a beach wave fan?

'Twilight' Star Ashley Greene's Bra-Flashing Look Is a Total Style Misstep

Post by Maressa Brown

ashley greeneTwilight star Ashley Greene may be beyond adorable and in awesome shape, but that doesn't excuse her for making a complete style misstep this weekend. The former Alice Cullen stepped out with a couple of friends to eat at Chili's wearing nothing more than a white bra and Motel Ditsy Daisy Dungarees.

Okay, we get it, she's just hanging out on a lazy Saturday with her friends and her dogs. She's not on the red carpet or a Vogue fashion shoot. But still. This look -- if you can even call it that! -- screams SLOB.

Seriously, I hate when Joan Rivers and Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne rip into innocent celebs who did nothing other than step out without the aid of their stylist, but this is one get-up that deserves to be ripped. To shreds. It's horrendous. The freakin' overalls/coveralls/dungarees/whatever you want to call 'em themselves are bad enough! But then to pair them with a basic white, granny bra? Ick!

Let's be honest: This look was bad enough when it debuted in the late '80s, early '90s. But I guess at least it was new and therefore sexy based strictly on its novelty ...

To be fair, lots of Ashley's Hollywood peers -- from Rihanna to Vanessa Hudgens to Rachel Bilson -- have been spied in similar outfits lately. But they didn't look much better. I'd venture to say the coveralls/bra combo is almost always cringe-worthy. And Ashley's latest attempt is no exception. It may be time for a stylist intervention STAT.

What do you think of this look?

Maci Bookout’s Red Lips and Sexy Outfit Steal the Show at Her Birthday Party (PHOTO)

maci bookoutHave you perused MaciBookout's Instagram lately? Really, you should. There are some incredibly adorable photos on there. Take this shot she posted yesterday of her at her birthday party. Cuteness abounds! The long hair -- are those extensions? The black outfit -- is that a strapless romper? And of course -- the red lips. Love.

If there's one thing no redhead should ever go without, it's a good red lipstick. For they can rock it like none other. Maci, you look good, girl.

Wearing red lipstick, sadly, is not for everyone. But when you've been blessed with red hair (or dyed your hair red), it should be your go-to. No need to roll out of bed and load up on a bright red gloss, but when you're getting dressed up, it truly is no-fail for a redhead.

A few things you may want to take into consideration, though:

Don't match your lipstick to your hair. Pick a color that's a little bit darker or brighter than your hair color. Doing the former can wash you out a bit. Don't go crazy with the eye makeup when you're doing a red lip. Red lips are bold enough on their own. Maci looks like she did both an intense eye and lip, but it's okay. It was for her birthday. If you have really fair skin, go for a bolder red. If you're complexion is warmer, try a darker red.

So, go on, redheaded friend, start experimenting with those red lipsticks a la Maci Bookout. If not for yourself, for the rest of us who can't wear it. We're very jealous of you.

Do you wear red lipstick?

Selena Gomez Pulls a Taylor Swift in 'Pinup Girl' Bikini (PHOTO)

Post by Mary Fischer

Selena Gomez bikiniMost girls her age are quick to parade around in skimpy string two-piece bathing suits. That's why I couldn't help but be pleasantly surprised to see Selena Gomez in a retro bikini, which she wore while relaxing with friends after the Teen Choice Awards.

Check her out, you guys! This suit honestly reminds me of something straight out of the '50s or '60s -- back when swimwear actually covered up your private parts instead of leaving them partially (or sometimes unintentionally fully) exposed.

Ok, so she is showing a little bit of cleavage, but not enough to make the suit the least bit risque or anything. (It's not like she has the side-boob going on.)

And as far as coverage goes -- the bottoms of Selena's suit are about as full as bikini bottoms get. The only way it could possibly be any more conservative is if there was a little skirt attached. Skirted suits are basically "mom" suits, so I highly doubt we'll see her wearing one of those for quite some time. (We hope.)

It's the perfect mix of sexy and reserved for a 21-year-old. Other women the same age should take note of Selena's look and treat it as proof that sometimes less is more when it comes to looking hot at the beach or pool. It's no secret that she has an incredible body, so it's not like she's wearing this suit to hide flaws or a bulging tummy. She obviously realizes that being sexy isn't about how much skin you show, it's about confidence and the right attitude -- which are two things she clearly has based on this pic.

Wait a minute, Selena's BFF Taylor Swift has been rocking the high-waisted bikini trend for quite some time -- so maybe she took a few tips from her when selecting this particular suit? And Snooki wore a full-bottomed suit recently too -- could it be that she is somehow influencing Selena's style? (Nah. Probably Taylor. Besties tend to rub off on each other when it comes to style.)

Whatever the case, this look certainly suits Selena. Now let's just hope she doesn't turn up on a beach in the Caribbean wearing something that could basically pass as a handkerchief.

What do you think of Selena's retro suit?

Rag and Bone jeansThough I'm probably going to cling to my skinny jeans until I'm a (stylish!) little old lady, I do really like the baggy/boyfriend jean trend that's picking up steam these days. HOWEVER. What I really, really don't like at all is how so many of them come artfully pre-ripped. I get that some people look super cool in torn up jeans, but frankly I would just feel ridiculous!

I mean, it's one thing if you're a teenager, or if you wear your favorite jeans so much that they actually fade and rip ... but to pay big money for pants with holes? Puh-lease. Take, for example, the pair of jeans shown here...

That pair of Rag and Bone boyfriend jeans with "shredded holes and whiskering" goes for $220 on ShopBop.com! Now, don't get me wrong. I love Rag and Bone, and I'm not opposed to spending a lot of money on a great pair of jeans, on principle anyway (i.e.: I can't afford $200 on one pair of jeans, but I probably would spend that much money if I could and I loved the jeans!). But those holes! They're just silly! Aren't they?

I don't know if this means I'm turning into an old fuddy-duddy, or what. This pair of NSF "Beck" Boyfriend jeans available at Barneys is actually a little more appealing, though the $294 price tag seems totally crazy:

For that much money, a pair of jeans better make my butt look freaking great!

And yet, and yet ... this holey trend is spreading like wildfire. Celebs everywhere are being snapped wearing distressed jeans with holes in them, from Kristin Stewart to Agnyess Deyn (whose jeans are more holes than denim!). And TONS of jeans right now are being sold with holes and frayed spots, from these Washboarn "destroyed boyfriend jeans" with floral patches that peek through the shredded holes, to these Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren patched boyfriend jeans "finished with embroidered patches and repairs."

I would feel super silly sporting these just about anywhere! And I think in general it's a look best left to teenagers.

What do you think? Am I just being a party pooper, or are expensive, deliberately ripped jeans just plain ridiculous?

kate middleton prince william prince georgeRemember back when Kate Middleton and Prince William got engaged, and we couldn't get away from infomercials for "commemorative" fake, sapphire engagement rings? Then, they actually went and tied the knot, and suddenly, you could get china, toasting flutes, and even a replica of DuchessCatherine's trend-setting, long-sleeved wedding gown to mark the happy occasion. Ack! I know there are people who LOVE the British monarchy, but was anyone actually spending their hard-earned dollars on most of that stuff?

Well, now that Prince George has arrived, surprise, surprise -- there's MORE memorabilia! But this time, it's not cringe-worthy at all. Jewelry designer Claudia Bradby has created two commemorative pieces -- a silver necklace with a pearl acorn charm, as well as a silver bracelet with royal-themed charms -- to honor the royal baby, and they're actually really pretty!

Check 'em out ...

Bradby drew her inspiration from the Middleton crest -- which features three acorns to represent their three children: Kate, Pippa, and James. The designer explained to People:

Mighty oaks from little acorns grow -- that's the saying and the sentiment behind it. Plus, it has some relevance to them as a couple because the inspiration for the design was drawn from her own family crest.

Love it!

Maybe one of the reasons Bradby was able to hit out of the park on this is that she personally collaborated with Kate in 2007 on a line of jewelry for Junior Jigsaw. (At the time, the future Duchess worked as the accessories buyer for the fashion label.) Bradby describes Kate as "warm, charming, and intelligent." Aww, how sweet.

Plus, I would think the fact that Bradby and the Duchess made that personal connection adds some cache to the jewelry, right? It's not like it's some random designer trying to cash in on the royal baby. This really is a tribute to the joyful occasion. And I'm sure that's something lots of Kate fans will be able to get behind!

Would you buy this commemorative jewelry?
